Monsoon Skin Care – Tips to take care of your skin & hair this monsoon

The rains are finally here and we couldn’t be happier. While we all savor our hot cup of tea and some warm food, we do need to take extra care of our hair & skin, as the rains do come with its own set of challenges.

The humidity in the air makes the skin more oily or dry depending on the skin type. This also causes various skin infections like rashes, pimples, fungal infections or even prickly heat if not looked after. With the increased level of humidity, our hair too tends to act up and problems like hair fall, dandruff & frizziness increase.

Let’s take a look as to what can be done to avoid any kind of skin troubles while we enjoy these rains.

I will be sharing some tips with you that will help your skin & hair through this season. I have also mentioned some organic products that can help you further.

Cleansing & Exfoliating

The first step is to do a facial cleanse to get rid of impurities, pollution or any clogged pores from the excessive sebum or any kind of dirt which has settled on your face. This is a vital step to any skincare/beauty routine.  It is suggested to cleanse your face twice a day – morning & night. Here’s what you need to know: cleansing your face might also strip off its natural oils, resulting in tightness. Hence, choosing the right cleanser is important.

Exfoliation follows: It is important to sweep away the dead and dry skin, along with all the other surface debris that might remain on your skin after cleansing. Exfoliation stops dirt from making its way into your pores and causing stubborn clogs in the form of whiteheads or blackheads. This prevents acne, breakouts, as well as evens out your skin tone & helps your other skincare products to penetrate deeper into the skin. It is advised to exfoliate at least twice a week.

Moisturise & Hydrate

Let’s first understand the difference between moisturising & hydrating!

A moisturizer helps to improve the skin’s health by decreasing water loss, while hydrating products add water to the skin & help trap water there.

Dehydrated & dry skin tends to feel tight, flaky & looks dull which can lead to breakouts due to the excess oil produced to make up for the water loss.

For dehydrated skin you should use products which contain hyaluronic acid, which help retain water in your skin.

Bio Active Skin Lightening Face Gel , Bio Active Intense Night Cream (contain hyaluronic acid).

While nourishing your face, do pay attention your body as well.

Products Recommended

Day & night lotion spf 40+, made with ingredients like muru muru butter, aloe vera which will give your skin the nourishment it needs & the spf will help protect your skin from the harmful UVA & UVB Rays.

Shea butter vanilla oil which helps fight wrinkles, fine lines, reduces stretch marks is an excellent moisturizer for dry skin.

Hair Care: Try and keep your hair dry, which means try not to wet your hair in the rain (rule this out if you are caught in some downpour) as rain water is mostly dirty & acidic.

Shampoo your hair twice a week to clean your scalp and remove any residue left behind by the rains. Our hair tends to get frizzy in the rains due to the moisture in the air, so you may also experience hair loss and dandruff.  Hence, getting a good shampoo which suits your hair type is essential.

Never skip using a hair conditioner. It will help reduce the frizz, prevent damage and breakage, and helps in retaining moisture.

Try oiling your hair atleast twice a week. Oiling does help boost moisture and also revitalizes dry hair strands (provides deep conditioning). It stimulates hair growth, combats dry scalp, dandruff & adds shine.

Organic Castor Oil -Prevents hair breakage, & removes split ends & removes dandruff.

Onion Black Seed Hair Oil:Combats hair loss, promotes healthy growth & shine.

I would suggest adding TEA TREE OIL to your self-care routine as it contains anti -bacterial, anti – inflammatory and anti fungal properties, which will be a great help to fight any skin or fungal infections, as well as acne. You can add a few drops to your bath, shampoo, moisturizer or even your hair oil. As a bonus, it can also act as a disinfectant to clean your house.

To maintain healthy and glowing skin we should adopt a skin care routine which we should follow not just in rains but for life!!!

Also, switching to organic & natural products is your best bet as they are effective and not too harsh on your skin.

All the products mentioned are from Greenberry Organics, which are made from only natural & organic ingredients, which are suited for all skin types & are unisex.
